Year 9 2025-2026

Welcome to the start of your KS4 journey at SVC. This year will be about consolidating your foundation knowledge and understanding, honing you personal study skills whilst balancing extra-curricular, hobbies and interests that all feed into you as a fully rounded student.

Your first point of contact as a student and as a parent is your tutor. You have your vertical tutor, but also your horizontal/life skills tutor (Thursday person!) They are your day to day ‘go to’ – do send them an email if you have an questions/concerns. Your subject staff will also be able to help with subject specific queries – but as specialists and passionate teachers, they will be able to support you as you start your GCSEs together.

Make the most of your time and build up skills but ensuring that you participate in clubs, opportunities and trips… it is never too late to try something new, or push yourself. Info on our clubs can be found

15th October – Values & Experience Day 1

11th December – Values & Experience Day 2

26th January (week beginning) – Report 1 emailed home

Thursday 29th January – Year 9 Parents’ Evening (Subject teachers, parents and students)

11th March – Values & Experience Day 3

14th May – Values & Experience Day 4 – including Year 9 Trip to Colchester Zoo

1st June (week beginning) – Report 2 emailed home

Tuesday 2nd June – Year 9 Parent’s Evening (Tutors, parents and students)

Monday 6th – Friday 10th July – Experience Week (trips etc)

13th July (week beginning) – Year 10 timetable starts
