Administering Medicine

If your child needs to take essential medicine when at school, or if they have emergency medication such as an inhaler, EpiPen or diabetes kit, please complete the attached form. Once you have completed this form, it needs to be returned to Reception with the medicine clearly labelled.

Alternatively, if your child has medical needs that we are already aware of but you haven’t filled out the attached form, please do so as soon as possible.

Please be aware that medication should be in date and it is not the school’s responsibility to notify parents if medication has gone out of date.

Students should not carry prescription, or non prescription medication or pain relief with them on site as this presents a safeguarding risk. If a student requires non prescription pain relief, e. g.  paracetamol during the school day they should contact First Aid as in line with our policy which states “The academy will support the administration of non-prescription medicines, over the counter medicines (OTC) following prior written permission by the child’s parent/carer. No child will be given any prescription or non-prescription medicines without written parental consent except in exceptional circumstances.

In the event that a First Aider calls you regarding your child requesting paracetamol, please complete the following MS Form provide the written consent for this to be provided to your child. A new submission would be required every time a child makes a request.
