Welcome to Swavesey Village College Adult Education

The Swavesey Village College aims to ensure that every learner has the best possible chance of success. The purpose of Community Learning is to develop the skills, confidence, motivation and resilience of adults of different ages and backgrounds in order to;

  • improve their health and well-being, including mental health
  • progress towards formal learning or employment
  • develop stronger communities
  • learn new skills and build confidence

Insurance & Losses

The Local Education Authority cannot accept responsibility for accidents to members of clubs and classes other than those covered by their Public Liability Scheme, nor for the loss of personal property left on the premises, nor for damage to cars and bicycles.  Members wishing for such cover should make their own arrangements.

Careers Advice – Cambridge Skills

Careers advice is available to all learners. The Cambridge Skills provides free information and advice on all aspects of learning, skills development and employment. Help is provided in a way that suits you, online, face to face or by telephone please go to for more information www.cambsals.co.uk 

Smoking Policy

Government Legislation, introduced on 1st July 2007, places a total ban on smoking in public places. Swavesey Village College is a smoke free site.

Complaints Procedure

The College has a complaints procedure that treats complaints as an opportunity to improve. We believe that complaints can be resolved satisfactorily by informal discussion either over the telephone or through a meeting involving the key people involved. We will acknowledge complaints within five working days and give a full response to complainants within two weeks. The main aim throughout the process is to resolve the matter as quickly and effectively as possible, to everybody’s satisfaction.

Safeguarding

We have made arrangements to ensure that you are safe in our college.  If you feel you are not safe for any reason, for example through verbal or physical abuse or you have been discriminated against; tell your tutor or the Adult Education Manager immediately, who will investigate to ensure your safety.

Health and Safety Fire

In case of Fire: Leave the building quickly and in an orderly way. Go to the assembly area which is located at the Front of the School. Report to your group organiser or tutor. Please do not go home without doing this. If you are mistakenly presumed to be missing, fire fighters may put themselves at unnecessary risk. Your tutor will point out emergency exits and the nearest toilets as part of the course induction process.
