Welcome from the Principal

It is my pleasure and privilege to welcome you to our website. We hope that this provides a live window into the life of the school.

Swavesey Village College is an exciting and very positive community and we are very proud of the many achievements that we enjoy.  The 2011 Ofsted Report was a great endorsement of the many excellent things taking place within the school, that in turn contribute to our students' fantastic academic and wider achievements. In 2011, the Sunday Times ‘Good Schools Guide’ named Swavesey as the 4thbest non-selective 11-16 state school in the country.

Of all the accolades in the Ofsted Report however, I am personally most proud of the fact that the report recognised that ‘there is absolutely no complacency’.  Swavesey is and will remain an outstanding school because we are constantly striving to be better, by benchmarking our practices with other outstanding schools and organisations nationally.

The focus of the school remains unchanged and is encapsulated in our Value Statements :

The Pursuit of Excellence

Valuing People

Achievement For All

A High Quality Learning Environment

Extending the Boundaries of Learning

We measure these against challenging targets that recognise that Swavesey should serve the needs of every child, which defines a culture of 100% targets. Staff and students at Swavesey work very hard in pursuit of these but in turn the sense of pride and satisfaction that comes with achievement makes this all worthwhile.

In 2011 Swavesey Village College became an Academy and established the Cambridge Meridian Academies Trust, and the Trust has since opened Nene Park Academy in Peterborough, West Town Primary Academy in Peterborough, Stamford Welland Academy, Sawtry Village Academy, North Cambridge Academy, and Ely College, all of whom we work in close partnership with. This provides new energy to drive further improvements and to recruit, develop and retain staff. For further information on the Trust, please visit our Trust website www.cmatrust.co.uk
