Careers information, advice and guidance are a critical part of our students’ development.
Cambridgeshire Youth Service supply careers advice to targeted students only, from year 10;
referrals to this service will come via Hannah Turner, Senior Tutors and the achievement support team.
The majority of students will therefore receive guidance from within the College guidance process.

Values and Experiences Days allow for each year group to have a day focused on careers and employability skills.

Year 10 - students complete 2 weeks of work experience at the end of the summer term

Year 11- there is an information evening, early in the autumn term, on the post 16 process. A variety of Sixth Form and Further Education Colleges are present to provide information and advice on the courses and qualifications they offer. Year 11 students are guided through the post 16 application process by their form tutor.

All students have to continue in education or training until the end of the academic year in which they are 18.
This does not mean young people must stay in school. They will able to choose from:

  • full-time education (eg at a school or college)
  • an apprenticeship or traineeship
  • part-time education or training combined with one of the following:

                 employment or self-employment for 20 hours or more a week
                 volunteering for 20 hours or more a week
